Piotr Rachwalski is a transport economist by education. He is the founder and long-time president of the Institute for the Development and Promotion of Railways, established in 1999, where he worked on implementing modern, alternative, and socially beneficial solutions in transport. He is also the founder and president of the transport company Nord Express and a co-creator of transport plans, serving as an advisor in transport programs funded by the Swiss Fund.
From June 2014 to January 2019, he was the president of Lower Silesian Railways (Koleje Dolnośląskie). In recent years, he has served as the president of PKS Słupsk and PKM sp. z o.o., major bus operators. He is the initiator and co-founder of the Association of Local Government Railway Carriers and a co-founder and president of the Association of Public Transport Operators in Poland PKS, which brings together several companies in the transport sector. Recently, he held the position of president of the Metropolitan Communication Enterprise, providing transport services within the Upper Silesian-Zaglebie Metropolis.
