CPK Region – Central Poland Metropolis

The CPK will be located between two strong urban centres: Warsaw and Łódź. Since decades, there has been a debate on their functional connections and opportunities to create a duopolis in the heart of Poland – effectively operating twin cities with diverse functions and offering different opportunities for its residents. CPK construction: common airport and high-speed rail will provide a strong development impulse to accelerate metropolitanisation processes. It will also enable the launch of large development projects in both cities – in Warsaw, creation of a new part of urban tissue in the area created after the closure of the Warsaw Chopin Airport, in Łódź – completion of revitalisation and transfer of the urban centre to the area of railway stations, mainly the Łódź-Fabryczna station.

DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT ARENA

Airport regions are the areas of dynamic economic and urban development

The impact of airport investments goes far beyond the infrastructure itself. Airports are an important factor in the economic development of their regions. They contribute positively to a greater mobility of people, ensure the development of tourism, create new opportunities for investors and business by increasing the availability of foreign markets, and contribute to the creation of new jobs. As a result, according to new business theories, airports will be responsible for shaping the economy and urban development in the 21st century.

The creation of an airport generates enormous development potential for the region. Attractive investment lands generate new investments which translate directly into new jobs. The gateway nature of the planned airport will also generate tourism and increase service demand in the region.

The main drivers of the airport regions development are:

  • the proximity of the airport increases the ability to export products and compete on world markets at a lower price
  • synergy effect – the proximity of individual industries and the possibility of cooperation create new development opportunities
  • full use of local economic and touristic potential

A functional area exceptionally well connected with the world will be created in the heart of Poland. At the crossing of the A2 motorway and the planned Warsaw Metropolitan Area Ring Road (OAW), a CPK will be built – the main airport of Poland, linked with the railway station connecting all regions of Poland.

MARCIN HORAŁA, THE GOVERNMENT PLENIPOTENTIARY FOR THE CPK.

The agricultural region of the western Masovia will become an arena of dynamic urban and economic development. New business and urban centres will be created on its area, logistics and industrial investments will be implemented, tourism and entertainment will develop. The vicinity of Baranów will become a new Polish window onto the world, being the central point of the Warsaw-Łódź duopolis.

MIKOŁAJ WILD, THE PRESIDENT OF THE MANAGEMENT BOARD OF CPK

CENTRAL POLAND METROPOLIS
