CPK prioritises nature: relocating plants from airport grounds
Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) is proving that even major infrastructure developments can be grounded in environmental responsibility. As works continue for the new airport and integrated transport hub, the company is taking steps to preserve and rehome the flora found on the investment site.
As part of its preparations, CPK is carefully relocating trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants from the project area to new locations where they can continue to thrive. Its newest partner, a hospital in Żyrardów, will soon be the new home for many of these plants – a quiet transformation that reflects a deeper commitment to sustainability. This follows an earlier collaboration with a horticultural school in Sochaczew, where students are using the relocated greenery for both education and conservation.

Work is underway on parts of the land, which also hosts numerous plantings, as part of the preparations for the construction of the CPK Airport, terminal, and railway hub. Our goal is to save as many of these plants as possible and give them a second life in new locations. We are therefore pleased to announce yet another collaboration in this regard, this time with the Hospital in Żyrardów,
The land in question – over 1,800 hectares across the Baranów, Teresin, and Wiskitki municipalities – was acquired through CPK’s Voluntary Acquisition Programme (PDN). Much of it includes former private gardens and green spaces, and CPK has made it clear: these plants deserve a second life.
While most headlines about CPK focus on runways and rail lines, there’s a deeper story taking root. The company is inviting more institutions – from schools to care homes – to take part in its planting initiative. These actions are part of a broader mission: building the future without forgetting the living things already here.
CPK: A game-changer for Poland’s transport system
In 2024, CPK made historic progress in planning a modern, integrated transport system. With a state-of-the-art airport, high-speed rail, and road networks developing simultaneously, this ambitious investment is set to transform Poland’s connectivity, drive economic growth, and position the country as a major European transport hub – and one that keeps nature in mind at every step.
Scheduled to open in 2032 CPK will serve as Poland’s new central airport. The project also includes a high-speed rail network. Strategically located at the heart of Central and Eastern Europe, CPK will be a major global transfer hub. Optimised flight routes, shorter transfers, and multimodal integration will ensure smooth connections between Polish cities, European capitals, and the rest of the world—making travel faster and more convenient than ever before.
