CPK.OZE applies for funding to build energy storage facilities

CPK.OZE, a subsidiary of Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), has submitted an application for over PLN 55 million in funding from Poland’s National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The funds would support the construction of battery energy storage facilities located near the future airport, helping to ensure energy security and operational stability.

The initiative, part of the project “Development of an Integrated Energy Storage System under the CPK Programme”, aims to build energy infrastructure that includes a 100 MWh, 50 MW battery storage system, alongside a photovoltaic power plant in the Wiskitki municipality—adjacent to the planned airport. The total cost of the project exceeds PLN 150 million.

The deployment of energy storage near the airport will provide low-emission, flexible power solutions based on renewable sources, to be used throughout both the construction and operational phases of the CPK airport. This investment marks a vital step towards achieving Net Zero Ready status for the terminal and its associated facilities.

CPK.OZE’s project is fully aligned with both national and European climate and energy strategies, including:

  • Poland’s Energy Policy until 2040 (PEP2040),
  • The National Energy and Climate Plan (KPEiK),
  • The Strategy for Responsible Development,
  • The EU’s Fit for 55 package,
  • The REPowerEU plan
  • The Paris Agreement.

By integrating energy storage systems into the airport’s development, CPK reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and plays an active role in the energy transition of the transport sector.
