CPK and Finnish Embassy host study visit for local governments from the future airport site

To ensure the harmonious planning of the CPK airport while respecting its surroundings, Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), in cooperation with the Finnish Embassy in Poland, has organised a study visit to Helsinki Vantaa Airport and its surrounding areas. Representatives from local governments in the area where the airport will be built and its surrounding regions are participating in the visit.

The purpose of the visit, taking place from November 24–26, is to learn from the experiences and solutions implemented around Helsinki Vantaa Airport in terms of developing airport infrastructure while considering the needs of residents, businesses, and the environment. Participants will gain insights into how Finland’s main airport collaborated with local governments during its construction and expansion.

In the past, local governments requested a study visit to a European airport to examine a completed project and its impact on the surrounding area. Vantaa is an excellent example of airport-community cooperation, so we decided to invite local governments involved in the CPK project to draw from these experiences

said Dr. Filip Czernicki, CEO of CPK, who is leading the delegation.

The two-day program includes meetings with airport authorities and Vantaa city officials, as well as a presentation by the public transport management team on how airport development has influenced local transportation. There will also be showcases of urban and planning solutions designed to shape the space around the airport.

On the second day, the delegation will meet with Vantaa city representatives to learn about the Aviapolis project — an innovative development area around the airport that takes into account the needs of various social and economic groups. Participants will also visit residential neighbourhoods, local centers, and economic activity zones to explore opportunities for effectively integrating the functions of a hub airport with the surrounding area’s development.

We aim to build the new airport in a way that harmoniously respects the development needs of local governments in the surrounding area. Through direct dialogue and the exchange of experiences, such as those gained during this study visit, we can develop solutions that benefit both the project and its environment

emphasized Dr. Filip Czernicki.

Two representatives from each of the three municipalities where the CPK airport will be located, as well as their corresponding counties, were invited to participate in the visit. The Finnish Embassy in Poland and Business Finland, the Finnish governmental agency supporting international cooperation, played an active role in organising the visit.
